French language program this summer season for American moving to Paris?

Question by humanitarian: French language program this summer for American moving to Paris?
I will be moving to Paris this summer to begin graduate school in Paris in September. Although my school program will be taught in English, I still want to learn to speak French as well as possible for everyday living aside from school. During July and August, I would like to do an intensive program of French study in order to prepare. I would welcome all suggestions for the best French language programs that occur during the summer. Thanks very much!

The best place is expensive…. but it’s 40 hours a week and gets you speaking French! The Institute de Francais in Villefranche-sur-mer on the Riveria, about 20 or 40 miles north of Nice.

They have monthly programs, which includes two meals a day and they help with housing. Or 2-week programs. The sooner you go there the better – the prices are higher in the summer.

As a dyslexic, this was THE ONLY way I could learn French. Other people say they can learn with lots of 20-hour programs, but not me. If I had to do it again, I’d spend the money on this place.

As well as ‘tu’ being singular and ‘vous’ being plural, which has already been mentioned in a response, ‘vous’ should also be used when addressing a singular person in a respectful or formal manner such as when you’re talking to an elder, a boss/potential employer or an authority figure.

i agree with the first answer. something does not sound right, are you leaving out any information? because if it all went down exactly as you said then you probably found yourself with a quack psychiatrist and you probably want to get as far away from him or her as you can. there are a lot of quack therapists out there, i was seeing one for awhile, luckily I sensed something was wrong with his methods and stopped going to him.
