The RosettaStone is the best way I could have found to learn German. Easy, affordable, friendly….”I’m in love with Rosetta…”

In learning the German language, there are certainties that a student must and needs to consider. Since the Internet have taken its many changes mostly for the betterment of each Internet user, there have been countless German programs and materials, be it video or audio, scattered all over the World Wide Web. All you need is several left-clicks or right clicks and you're good to go for your first German lesson.

But searching for the correct and appropriate German material isn't the only time-taking part in learning the German language. You do realize that learning the German language still requires a lot of time, effort and learn german audio understanding. Experience and practical use of the language is also a high necessity. So what else is there that you need to know about learning a foreign language?

Aside from the reality that people say learning the German language isn't much of a difficulty when you are learning it, the part where you have and need to stick to your lessons is dragging. It can be more of a temptation to completely forget about it. At some point, you will lose interest, disregard the lesson or think about how to abandon the entire course.

But there are real factors that can happen when you are on the process of learning the German language regardless what foreign language you want to learn. Embracing each and every difficulty should be the only way to do it.

And of course making mistakes is going to happen in a rampant manner. This too, you have to expect because if you are not well prepared, you might see yourself a failure. And that's not a very good thing at all. With every obstacle that you learn in life and from learning German at least, there are some things that you need to accept. Don't try to be too perfect because even a native German speaker still makes mistakes.

And of course, expect to have fun as you move along.

Briefly: This is an older product but it suited my needs in having an intereactive German language program which features much spoken material as well as concise grammar lessons and games which help make the process fun. The student is presented with narratives between several characters and, through dealing with the vocabulary elements early in each section, one is able to follow the thread of meaning through booking a hotel, going to the post office, meeting new people, etcetera. Good for the low price!

It was a good buy for the money, has really helped me get my pronunciation down…although i do wish the learning part was more fun.

I bought this without realizing I needed a voice input to fully use the lessons. Other than that, the lessons are good.

I recently started this program and have had great success. It is easy to navigate, and provides several helpful tools to help you achieve your language goals. It comes with a basic version of another program, Before You Know It, also by Transparent Language, that is INCREDIBLE. This is where I started because it allows you to work on single words and phrases until you know them cold. Then, you can progress to the activities in Learn Irish Now, which are a little more intermediate and advanced. In this part of the program, there are several “environments” you can learn in, each involving sentences and paragraphs.

One of my favorite features is the pronunciation guide. You can listen to the example, then record your voice and compare it (even in slow motion) to the recording. It rates you on your pronunciation, too.

I also found the reference section extremely helpful. There are several topics resembling class notes from language classes that are very helpful when learning basic pronunciation and grammar rules. I found it easier to understand why the confusing mix of vowels and consonants were strung together after understanding the basics.

The only thing that was disappointing with this program was that the Before You Know It portion was only a “lite” edition, and somewhat limited. I downloaded the deluxe edition from the website and it was amazing. With the deluxe version, you get several more lists (many of which help explain to people that you are just learning the language!) and the pronunciation guide for the flashcards, as well as the immersion programs.

Overall a great buy. Worth the money if you are serious about learning Irish Gaelic.

Wow. This product is just abysmal. I’m appalled that it is sold at all – the software that has actually installed on my computer is sloppily put together, and the rest won’t properly install on Mac OS 10.5. Customer service is non-existent. I keep on getting canned technical service responses that have nothing to do with the problem that I describe.

I’m trying to get a refund from this shabby operation and they still haven’t responded. I have a feeling that I just kissed a lot of money good-bye.

I cannot warn you enough not to waste your money on this product.

My 21 year old son has used Rosetta Stone German Level 1 for a while. He is now in Germany for a while and doing well. I ordered the Level 2 so that he could move his “immersion” up a notch.
One of my sons is using Rosetta Stone Farsi, and I’m using Rosetta Stone Spanish (Latin American). Rosetta Stone is highly effective!

After several attempts to install on Windows 7, I’m giving up – it keeps returning the same error, and the Rosetta Stone support pages only advice is to wipe and reinstall. There is a “highly recommended” update that seems to take an hour to download and install on what is normally a fast connection, and then it wipes. (It won’t let you just download a patch and save it, I’ve had to redo with each install.)

Overall, a frustrating experience with no reward – just hoping I can get a full refund for this disappointment.
